Product Description
A fastener with a built in washer is called a SEM or SEMS, short for pre-asSEMbled. It could be fitted on either a tapered or non-tapered shank.
SEMS combines two normally seperate parts-typically a screw and a washer- into one permanently pre-assembled cost saving component. Washers are hel in place under the screw head by the rolled threads; they will not fall off and are free to rotate.
SEMS screws provide design and manufacturing efficiencies by combining multiple parts, captive washer and screw, into one versatile fastener. The style of lockwasher or combination of assembled parts can provide bottom line savings for production. One part to inventory, track and assemble. In addition, to the more standard series shown below, specials with cables, or even electrical assemblies can be fashioned.
SEMS screws (or SEM screws) are machine screws with lock washers pre-attached to save users assembly time. They combine two separate parts into one pre-asSEMbled, low cost fastener. With washers under the head, SEM fasteners allow for fast installation, permanence, and easy adaptability to many applications. When using SEMS machine screws, there’s no need to worry about the washer going missing; this, in turn, helps extend product life and ensure reliable performance.
